White Paper Amendment
Hey, everyone 👋
We wanted to create a white paper amendment that we could share with everyone. Over the past ~24 hours or so we’ve seen a mix of things:
Good:
- People who are very excited about the game and the bridge between web2 and web3.
- People who have reached out about franchising, apparel, branding, and IP
Bad:
- Confusion surrounding staking and the benefits of holding multiple Oddstronauts
- Questions about the timeline of our planned actions
We hear you. We see your suggestions, your questions, and the criticism.
We’re here to address everything good, bad, and in between.
We’ve been working hard to address most of the things as they pop up, as there are some things that are smaller than others and just need a bit of 1:1 clarification. However, there are other things that require a bit more clarification, which is the reasoning for this paper. Additionally, we will be TL;DR’ing this on Twitter in a digestible thread.
Clarification on Staking —
We addressed this last night during an announcement in the Discord, but to reiterate that here, you can stake more than one Oddstronaut per wallet. And to add to that, staking more than one Oddstronaut does have a benefit.
Benefits of staking more than one Oddstronaut:
- Enter giveaways multiple times (relative to the number of Oddstronauts staked)
- Split of funds that are dispersed from Genesis Marketplace sales. These splits are passively earned (you don’t have to play the game to earn these splits) by users who have staked Oddstronauts. The number of Oddstronauts staked increases your percentage of the split.
To add to this, there is a diminishing return (non-negative, but instead, low increase) after a certain number of Oddstronauts are staked per wallet (reference below — not actual).
After speaking with multiple individuals who hold Oddstronauts in amounts of 5, 10, 20, 50, and above, this has been the suggested approach to take. The number where the diminishing return is implemented has not yet been determined as we need to look at the analytics of holders and the dispersal of Oddstronauts per wallet.
Timelines —
We didn’t mention much about the timelines of the projects mentioned within the white paper, nor was it discussed during the spaces. So we’re here to alleviate those questions surrounding the timelines in each of the areas.
Franchising: We’re preparing branding decks and IP decks currently. We’re aiming to have these complete by the end of June. For individuals interested in franchising of the Odd Tea & More, please open a ticket in the discord server. This process will be formalized via the website in the near future.
Staking: Staking will be rolled out with the new website. The contract development is ready to go for this part, but we’re currently working on the design for the entire system which will need to be fun and interactive to match our current branding criteria.
ODD-PPAREL: We’re currently working with manufacturers for apparel and are aiming to have a full apparel launch by late Q3 or early Q4. We will be releasing merchandise that is holder-only, as well as merchandise that is available to the public.
Website: The new website will be ready within 1–2 months. The current plan for the website is for it to display more than just pieces of the collection, but rather to be a central hub for all things Oddstronauts. It will contain information relating to:
- Franchising
- Oddstronauts 1.0 Collection
- Staking (information about how it works)
- Staking dashboard
- Branding information
- Game information
- Blog
Game Development: The ODDVERSE game is a long-term development project. We’re aiming to have alpha and beta versions playable by all holders of Oddstronauts. With this, we are hoping to receive feedback from alpha and beta playtesters so that we can work in an agile workflow and quickly hit the moving target that is the game’s desired play style. This aligns with our mission to be community-driven and to be able to work with our community to provide something they are able to build with us.
Social Media —
We’ve noticed that the community has been asking for more social engagement. First, we want to let you know that we’re on it. From this point forward, we will make our communication, interaction, and engagement more visible with the entire Oddstronauts community.
This outreach from our Twitter account will be both inside and outside of the official Oddstronauts community on Twitter. We are dedicated to not only utilizing Twitter as a marketing tool, but also as an engagement tool to touch base and stay aligned with all of the followers, contributors, holders, and lovers of all things Oddstronauts.
Progress Communication —
Communication and visibility of what goes on behind the scenes is important. We understand that not having anything physical or interactive can make it hard to understand what work is going on behind the scenes.
Because of this, we’re opening a roadmap-log channel where we will be posting updates related to the development tasks that relate to the website, game, apparel, and franchising into this channel. This will align with our goal to be more community-driven. As we post updates in the channel, we encourage you to give feedback on the updates and let us know if what we’re working on is misaligned with the community’s interests as a whole so we can work quickly to solve the issue and realign.
Closing —
Thank you all for your cooperation, suggestions, understanding, and commitment thus far.
Without your feedback, suggestions, and overall dedication to the vision, we would be misaligned. Our intentions are to be as transparent as possible from this point forward.
We are so excited to build with you all!
Let’s get to work 👏
